Northern lights are back!

Season started!

After months of light summer nights, the darkness is returning to the northern latitudes. And with darkness, comes the northern lights. I missed the first northern lights of this season which was about a week ago as I was up in the Finnish lapland. It was quite ironical that during the time that I was in the best places of Finland to view the northern lights, I wasn’t able to see them. The days are still that much longer up in the north that the nights doesn’t get dark enough. But thankfully now that I’m back in the south, there was another solar storm and I was able to start my season.

Start of an active season?

We are heading for the so called solar maximum which means that there is a good chance for strong solar storms and great northern lights shows. So now is a very good time to start a new hobby and start chasing those beautiful lights in the sky!
